History

Building beautiful, custom residential gunite pools since 1995.

The Early Years

Jim Courage was initially noticed for his impressive skills in his high school drafting class and hired by a local contractor to draw pool plans in 1987. He would work for three companies through the years improving his drafting and sales experience. He was recruited by other companies but he desired to oversee projects with more attention to quality work and customer service.

Building The Team

He opened Courage Pools Inc in 1995 out of his home in Antelope.
The business grew and he moved to an office in Roseville in 2003 (above photo). He hired designers and other employees including Jessica Moore, who is still our project manager today. Jim curated the best team of subcontractors based on their skill, experience, and professionalism.

Several subcontractors from the earliest projects of his opening are still who you’ll find on site today. Courage Pools hit a major milestone when they built their 1,000th pool in April 2005.

1000 Custom Swimming Pools And Counting

No business in the construction industry was prepared for the recession in 2008, but Jim saw the signs early, downsized, and made wise decisions with his business. He continued to build pools because his reputation for quality and integrity preceded him. Very little marketing and advertising were needed for him to keep the clientele that would carry him through a dry season of which many pools companies did not survive.

Today, Jim still is equally involved in each pool project and the year 2020 may mark their 2,000th pool.
